Query About Antique Bone China: I HAVE AN ANTIQUE DERBY BOWL (LIKE A CAKE STAND) WHICH I PAID £150 IN THE COTSWOLDS OVER TEN YEARS AGO. I WISH TO SELL IT, HOW DO I GO ABOUT IT.

Hello Christine,

You can try your luck with ebay. There is a real active market out there for Derby ware (one of the great makers).

Go to my China Replacement section on this site and follow instructions on how to search for Royal Crown Derby in online auctions and china replacement sites. The links will take you direct to the right pages. Check out the bowls / cake stands and see how much they are fetching.

An antique dealer will only give you half the retail value for it. You may get more at online auction if more than one collector is interested.

hey, i purchased this bowl for $500.00. i was wondering if you new how much it is worth? i am not sure if it was a bad purchase on my part because i'm not that familiar with antiques. or china that is costly.

Interesting query. If you go to my China Replacement page, then follow the link to ebay, then put in the following search

"ANTIQUE DERBY" (remember to click the include the 'Include title and description' box and select the Pottery section from the drop down menu)

you will see a range of 'buy-it-now' prices. Look for items similar to yours.

Otherwise, you can get an online valuation.
