Antique China China Query - Jacob Hertel Bavaria Germany and Lutz Austria - the cup and saucer!
Antique China China Query - Jacob Hertel Bavaria Germany and Lutz Austria:- I have a small cup and saucer and the back stamp is Jacob Hertel Bavaria Germany - c.1928 and this is overstamped with 'LUTZ Austria'. The cup has a picture of 'Seefeld Tirol' I am confused as to the actual make of this with it having the overstamp - can you give me any help?

I can easily solve your query. Jacob Hertel of Bavaria German were a porcelain manufacturer founded in 1922. They survived under that name until around 1969. Lutz are the Austrian retailer which bought the produce of Hertel. Founded in 1945, Lutz offered articles of Austrian craftsmanship such as rustic painted furniture and fine china. Lutz developed into a large retailer and according to their current website are today "Europe’s largest home furnishings retailer".
