Antique China Query - Fine China Tea Set

Antique China Query - Fine China Tea Set:- I have a fine 'bone china' tea set which contains about 36 items. The items are white, complete with a 'ridged pattern' and 'scalloped' edges and they are finished with a regular 'geometrical pattern' in gold.
Each item is marked on the base with a distinct 'gold comma' and some items bear the marking of "1728" and a "4" also in gold.
Could you please help me to identify the manufacturer and approx date of production.
Many thanks for your help.
Regards
Greg

Hi Greg
Thanks for the interesting antique china submission. However, you didn't upload a picture to go with your submission. Visitors are advised to upload one single picture image which contains two or more merged photos to help illustrate their submissions (that's if they want decent answers in this public forum).
If you have any problems with merging your own photos, use my photo-merge service here:-

This is a perfect submission to follow as an example.
OK, practical considerations over, getting back to your fine china, I think your fine china tea set sounds as if it may be old. Although I am no expert (just an enthusiast who runs a website and works in the industry as a sculptor), I recognise that the lack of markings suggests 'age' in such a fine set as you describe.
In fact, this lack of detailed pottery mark may be an indicator of something very welcome..... lots of dosh!
But let's not get carried away. Some questions first....
Please answer in the comments thread on the lower part of this page.
- How do you know it is specifically "fine bone china"?
- Are the wares very fine (thin) in appearence?
- When you hold it up to the light is it translucent?
- Is the body a very pure whiter than white OR..
- Is the body a very slightly greyish white?
- If you flick a tea cup while holding the handle what noise does it make?
As you can gather, this website can help you to a certain extent (for instance, I am quite good on 20th Century UK manufacturers). However, there comes a point, when you have potentially very valuable wares like your collection, you need an expert to cast an eye over - not least for insurance purposes.
For this very reason I have set up an online appraisal service which is designed to make life easier for visitors which you can access on this page:-
www.figurines-sculpture.com/antique-china-values.html On this page I include links to a unique identification & valuation service which will allow you to see if the mark and value of the item is identifiable by professional experts without you having to pay any money upfront.
You will find this service unique online and is designed to protect my site visitors from wasting their time and money online, as I have a lot of experience in this area of accessing expert antiquarians.
Look forward to your answers.
