Antique German Figural Group - Antique China Query:- Peter, Here is one piece. I have quite a few other ones. These fine china figurines have been passed down from my Grandparents. I am curious as to the value. I enclose a picture file - hope this helps.
Thank you

Thanks Theo. You just made my day! Why? Read the answer below.
So what is my view of your figural group?
You have made my day!
You have something very special in my view. I am no expert in identifying European porcelain, but I am an expert in master-sculpting.
There is no question in my mind that the piece in the photo was modelled in a bygone age when clay sculptors were truly masters of their art (probably 19th Century) and had both the time and the skill to master their art.
From someone 'in the trade' as it were, I take my hat off to this supreme work. I know how hard it is to complete to that standard! There is no way a modern forger could re-create this type of work unless they were in possession of the original blocks. The piece, as a whole, was put together by a team of artisans who really knew what they were doing.
To truly understand the value of what you have,
go to my
China Replacement page. From there, follow the specially coded link to the ebay search page. Once there put in this exact search term:-
"antique figural group"
then refine the search further by selecting "pottery & glass" from the drop down menu and tick the "Include title and description" box):-
You will see a range of antique figural groups which fetch very high prices (some in the thousands).
Unfortunately, my reference books do not identify your maker's mark, although it looks very characteristic of a Bavarian maker.
I am not sure how many of these antique china pieces you have, but I envy you a great deal even just having this one!!
Thank you for one of the best antique china queries I have ever had (and I have lots).
Please keep me abreast of developments.
Thanks.
