B C Dogwood China Cups - Crown Prince Bone China:- Hi, I am hoping you can possibly help me. An elderly neighbor was cleaning house and she found 4 B.C. Dogwood cups in her china cabinet. Knowing I have a computer, she was hoping I could find out something about the cups. So, far I have had no luck. According to the piece of paper, on the bottom of the cup is written 1781"
Crown Prince
Bone China
England
BC Dogwood
Written inside the cup is Guilford
Hoping you can help thank-you for your time and help Kaeti

Hi Kaeti
My hunch is that your BC Dogwood pattern by 'Crown Prince' England is a special Canadian export line by a company called Salisbury Crown China based in Longton, Staffordshire founded in 1927 and taken over by Thomas Poole of Longton in 1961.
The date of your cups might be further narrowed down by knowing that the word "Crown" was deleted from the firm's title in 1949.
However, the Dogwood is the official flower of British Columbia - The Pacific dogwood (Cornus nuttallii) was adopted in 1956 as British Columbia's floral emblem. If the 'B C' stands for British Columbia, then this may date the cups to after that date. I have seen other cups with the words 'Vancouver' on the inside, so can only presume Guilford must be a Canadian place name, although I have not located it.
The cups look as if they may be worth from between $6 and $12 USD, but you can go to my
China Replacements page for instructions on how to look for yourself.
Hope this helps
