Bird Plate with Grid Pottery Mark H with two lines and C or G dated1878
Bird Plate with Grid Pottery Mark H with two lines and C or G dated1878:- This is an 8" plate with gold trim with 2 birds on a limb. The back is marked with what looks like a capital H with two lines and a C in the center. To the right of the mark are the numbers 1878. It also has the no. 30 written in gold to the left of it. I would appreciate it if you could identify this mark for me.
Thank you so much.

Dear Mildred
Many thanks for two excellent pictures - very clear and merged into one. Excellent clarity, no problems there.
The mark is unknown to me - not seen it before and is not in my books. The letter in the middle looks more like a G than a C in the photo, but you are the one who can see it more clearly, so I'll take your word for it.
The 1858 is a big clue in the right direction though as famous names are always documented by their founding date.
There are only three names I have on file who are registered as starting on that date, and they are:-
Charles Amison & Co Ltd, the makers of Stanley bone china (without the 'Royal') actually began life as Amison and Lawson in 1878.
Tuscan tableware - Founded 1878 Staffordshire, England by R. H. Plant
...and, founded in 1878 in Staffordshire, England by Simon Fielding - Crown Devon.
There may be others, but they are the only names I have to hand. Your mark is not one I have seen as yet associated with one of those makers.
Let's wait for more knowledgeable other to pitch up on the forum.
As for valuations, I can't do more than point you in the right direction with appraisals because value of vintage and antique china is, like anything else, subject to fashion. What is 'in' one moment and fetching high prices, is 'out' the next.....and visa versa
I tell you how to dig around for values here:-
Researching the identity and value of antique and vintage fine china.
Hope this helps.
Best regards,
