Blue & White pot with TWO diamond registration marks:- Hello all, I would appreciate your help. I recently purchased a small item because I thought it was nice. I got curious and started doing research on it. I found that the diamond registration marks can show what year the item was put in the English registry. The problem is that mine has TWO diamond registry marks so I am confused. I have uploaded a pic of the bottom showing the marks as well as the item itself. Any help you may provide would be greatly appreciated.

BTW, I did not spend much on it so if it turns out to be worth nothing that is fine. I would just really like to know why two marks.

Taylor

I cannot explain why there are two diamond registration marks on the bottom of your piece. Maybe someone else has an idea why there are two different ones.

According to thepotteries.org the mark with the F on the right hand side of the diamond indicates a production year of 1873 and the mark with the D on the right side of the diamond indicate a year of 1878.

From your pic it looks like there is an impressed mark which also looks like a diamond reg mark? its partially obscured by one of the stamp marks.

Two marks because two facets of the article were registered - both the shape and the pattern.

Since the pattern is in blue, I expect that the blue registration mark is for the pattern and the black one is for the shape.

It's not uncommon to have 2 registration marks on one piece.
