Child's Plate Mark Query - Water Vessel, 2 handles, M in middle with England underneath:- Hi there, I have a child's plate which was my father's. He had it when he was a young child which would have been in the early 1930's.
The plate has a pottery mark with a water jug/vessel with 2 handles mark in green.
There is an M on the side of the jug device which has an extension added to the middle so that it looks like a set of scales. The word England is printed underneath and is curved alongside the bottom of the jug.
There is a crooked T to the left of the jug apprx. 1/2 inch away. The slants to the left in comparison to the jug and is gold.
The front of the plate has three sets of figures. The largest is pretty much centered at the top of the plate. It is a picture of a clown on a bench about to drop a yellow ball into a green hat with red pom poms. The hat is being held by a gold/brown poodle who is up on his hind legs begging. The tile is "The Little Beggar".
The second figure is on the lower left of the plate and is a monkey with a yellow hat with red pom poms balancing on a ball. The tile is "Micky the Monkey".
The third figure is on the lower right and is a clown in a red suit beating a blue and yellow drum and is titled "The Drummer".
All three titles are in capital letters and are brown.
The plate is 6 1/4" across and has a 1 inch rim with the center being 4" across.
My grandparents were both from England however, I do not know if the plate was acquired in Canada or brought from England.
Thanks very much for your help!
Judy

Hi Judy
Many thanks for your photos - a bit small, but I got the message.
This is the pottery mark of a Fenton (Staffordshire) maker called Morley & Fox (1906 - 1944) later to become William Morley & Co Ltd (1944 - 57). Other labels included Morley Ware and Homeleigh Ware.
Your mark was used from 1906. Sometimes the pot device also has the initials M F & Co.
Hope this helps.
Best regards,
