I'm trying to find the origin and pattern of a bowl
pottery mark
Hi Peter
I'm trying to find the origin and pattern of a bowl. Please can you help?
Your site is utterly brilliant, thanks for having it.
Until recently I've not been into pottery or ceramics, my mum gave me a lovely Shelley Dainty Blue cup and saucer that belonged to her sister, this coincided with me moving from a small basement flat to a gorgeous early georgian apartment and my taste suddenly changed! Now I can't stop buying china and glass - it's becoming ridiculous.
Anyway I found this lovely small bowl - approx. 4 inches across the top and despite my best efforts at research cannot establish anything about it other than the obvious Crown Staffordshire marks on its base. It is really frustrating. It has a pink interior, gold band around the top and bottom, white surround with gorgeous stylized flowers like fireworks spaced around it.
Are you able to throw any light on it?
Many thanks
Luci
==================================
Hey Luci
Thanks for your query.
I have now got the second picture of the pattern. Thanks.
I think I can point you in the right direction.
It's great to show the pattern if possible, because it informs for everyone visiting; who might have the same pattern they are trying to identify.
By the way, I just love your story and your enthusiasm. Lucky you! .... with the Shelly (VERY collectible now).
I think more and more people are like you with the vintage ceramics thing now. I used to be a fashion buyer in London - and you can tell when there's a hot feeling for certain things.
My daughter is also a fashion buyer for an upmarket store in Oxford Street (Reiss) in London and she is never out of vintage shops!!
With my bone china figurines, they were once traditional and getting old hat, but now we are working with contemporary ball gown designers etc and they are HOT! I am really excited about my new one especially (it went to the Stoke-on-Trent factory today). I am posting a video right here with your reply, for no particular reason other than we are both enthusiasts about china and I LIKE THE NEW TECHNOLOGY I JUST FOUND! Hope it works. LOL!
HERE'S WHAT TO DO:-
This is a great tip for all visitors, btw :-)
To find the pattern name of your bowl....
go to replacements.com
go to Crown Staffs section
click the blue 'image' bars on the far left.
Look for your pattern.
If your pattern is not listed it is rare and therefore may be of value to a collector. Best to check with an expert appraisal service like
Whats-it-Worth.

Hope this helps.
