the beautiful Laurentians
Double Handled Urn OR Pot made with a terracotta body and bright flowers hand painted over black glaze:- In the beautiful Laurentians 50 miles north of Montreal Quebec exist some great hotspots for garage sales and antique collecting. On one of my many scavenging trips I stumbled on a garage sale at a ladies house . A few cups and saucers some glass a piece of sterling and this jug. The story with the jug was that an aunt had given it to her and said that it had come from England.
The jug itself is lovely and has a deep glaze with bright flowers. The mark on the bottom is in the same glaze as the yellow. The pot is 12 inches high and approx 6 inches in diameter.
I too the pot to the antique roadshow when it came to montrealand I and the pot were seen by the famous pottery expert Henry Sandon. He didnt have any idea as to origin or age.
I am only interested in finding out the history of the jug.
Thank you
sheldon

Dear Sheldon
Well, well well. Many thanks for posting a wonderful item and a lovely story. Now, if the world leading authority, the great Henry Sandon, doesn't know the origin, age or style of a piece, then far be it for this humble website to supply the answer!!
However, if anyone does know anything, please post below.
I think age is the toughest call because Henry has seen and is a leading expert in just about every historical style that exists, and if he can't place this item, then is pretty much must be an amateur piece with no piers (albeit very nicely done) which could have come from any era in any country.
