Let me tell you more about the making of "Little Flower".

I have four daughters and love the chance to sculpt them whenever possible.

My eldest two were young at the time when I was sculpting porcelain dolls for Alberon and Celia. I also based many of my 'Moments' sculpts for Coalport on them. So they had many chances to see themselves immortalized in bone china.

However, my nine year old had not had much attention in the sculpting department. I had started to work with Compton & Woodhouse who, unlike Lladro who seem to do many children, concentrated mainly on beautiful ladies.

After some persuasion I managed to get 'Little Flower Girl' underway. However, Compton wanted a puppy in the basket. I dutifully put one there, but to me there was something wrong, something missing.

At that point my daughter saved the day. She wanted to pose for the model and went to dress in a nice long dress holding a basket. She had gathered some lovely summer flowers and put them in the basket and in her hair.

That was the moment the sculpture came alive for me and 'Little Flower Girl' came alive. She also began to hold the dress out to the side and I saw the wonderful unique way the folds in the long dress hung.

For me, this sculpture is one of my all time favourites. It is quite rare as not many were made as English bone china figurine collectors tend to favour romantic ladies.
