Franciscan Classic "Apple" Pattern Tableware Items - For Sale

I got hold of a few pieces of this lovely design classic recently, but don't have room for it as I just downsized.

On this website, Peter tells the story of American classic maker 'Franciscan' here:- The Franciscan Pottery Story

I love the 'Apple' pattern, designed in 1939 by design gurus Frederic and Mary Grant.

Once the Grants retired, the firm went into decline and in 1979 were taken over by UK giant Wedgwood.

This set was made and hand-painted in the UK in Barlaston (now they are made in China). Some of it under Wedgwood's 'Johnson Bros' label, some of it just the 'F' for Franciscan logo.

NOTE:- ALL THE PIECES ARE HAND PAINTED!!

I love hand-painted fine china. Look at the picture board above closely - you will see all the patterns are slightly different!!

There is a 1995 date stamp on some of the items and are all UNUSED and appear in mint condition, apart from the coffee/tea pot which is unused but has a tiny chip on the base :-( which I didn;t notice whan I bought it.

For sale there is:-

1 X Coffee/Tea/chocolate Pot - 8.5 inches high
(see photo for where the tiny chip on base is)

3 X Mugs - 4.25 inches high (3.5 inches diameter)

1 X Gravy boat and separate gravy saucer

1 X Large creamer - 6.5 inches high

4 X crescent side dishes - 8 inches at widest point.

All sensible offers welcome.

Background Info On These Items

The English Franciscan backstamp fetches less than the original vintage US production, but look on ebay UK for a buy-it-now guide to the English Franciscan and you will see the following:-

Tea pots go from £20 to £35 (GBP - UK). Plates from around £5 - £8. Peripherals like gravy boats and fancy sugar bowls fetch up to £20 on ebay (I saw a gravy boat for £22 on another site). I didn't see any crescent dishes when I looked, but mugs were around £15 or so each. Large creamers are said to be very rare - there was one in the US ebay selling for $75 USD (however, this was a vintage US label from the 1950's).

I am based in the UK and open to any reasonable offers.

Look forward to hearing from you ... just click on the comments link below and we'll talk.

Bethan
ps. I did the picture board (above) myself. I can do one for you too - I charge $3.00 USD per image to be included which is around £1.87 GBP UK. I used 12 different images above, which would cost 12 X $300 = $36.00 (less quantity discount of 17.5% = $29.70 about £18 - £19 GBP UK). ...Just talk to me on the comments section

Comment from Peter (admin) on this listing. Nice listing by Bethan. This type of listing is free as it is all the same pattern and up to ten items. Bethan only has one active free listing at any one time. When this listing ends, Bethan can list another free one. Otherwise, she can use the Multiple 'Pro' Listing service.

Peter
ps. I don't mind Bethan flagging up her photo skills here because so many visitors want to amalgamate two photos, but don't know how. To me $6.00 for this service seems cheap as chips. If you want Bethan to do this for you I have set up an online form to order here:- get your own photos amalgamated here
