German Pottery Mark Query - 'R' :- Hi, Thank you for viewing this. We recently purchased this vase, but have been unable to identify the maker. Hopefully, you can see the "R" in the image. Also there are some numbers, and it is inscribed "Germany"

This vase measures approximately 8 1/4" tall.

We would appreciate any information that you kind viewers may forward to us.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Anthony

Thanks for your interesting query, I really appreciate the time and trouble you took to upload your query.

Interesting and distinctive 'R' mark.

There isn't a single German 'R' pottery mark in my book which quite has the same look to it.

However, consider Carstens (who I have written about before). They use the single 'R', standing for Rheinsberg, Prussia, E. Germany. From the base, this looks like Steingut (or earthenware) which also fits with Carstens.

Less likely, but also consider

J H Koch of Regensburg.

Greiner & Holzapfel (aka "Oldest Volkstedt Porcelain Manufactury)

If you happen to get an answer before we have one here, please post below in the comments section.
