Hi Michele

We need pics!! {later sent and uploaded above} You promised to send some, remember? 2 or more photos into one before posting, please.

I don't know about this item, but I found a reference to "Old Sleepy Eye Pottery" in association with 'Indian Stoneware'. This is English, I think.

Also English was a chinoiserie type pitcher I saw said to be dating from the mid to later Victorian period 1870s. It was both transfer printed and hand painted. The maker was described as being 'unknown' but there was a J on its own (not accompanied with an 'M') underneath a large circular laurel device with the three separate words:-

INDIAN

STONE

WARE

I have no clue what that's all about. I also saw some actual Native American wares marked with 'Indian Stoneware' as a backstamp. These were later 20th Century.

Anyone know, please shout.

For general advice on how to either price up your collection or find replacements for it, I wrote this page: The Searching Secrets To Finding Your China Replacement Online ….more.

Hope this helps.

Jackie

Many thanks for sharing your knowledge with us. You are most kind and gracious. Michele emailed me to say she was going to send in some images - which should help with identification.

Note:-
Jackie helped us out of the kindness of her heart (she is a very knowledgeable antiques dealer) without revealing her identity or wanting a link to her website. I thought it only fair to give Jackie's website a mention and I added a link and a logo to her reply above, so if you want a treat and some lovely vintage and antique china, please go to www.flowblue.co.uk

Many thanks again

J & W Mark
by: mike

If the mark is J & W then it is Jones & Walley of Cobridge in the 1830-40 period - it is NOT Meir
