J and W Pottery Mark Beneath 'Indian Stone Ware' :- Mug-Chinoisere/ Staffordshire ? Mint cond. 4 1/2" purchaced 25 yrs ago from gallery in Kengsington. Pisces the name of shop? Price was 185 pounds

I don't know about this item, but I found a reference to "Old Sleepy Eye Pottery" in association with 'Indian Stoneware'. This is English, I think.
Also English was a chinoiserie type pitcher I saw said to be dating from the mid to later Victorian period 1870s. It was both transfer printed and hand painted. The maker was described as being 'unknown' but there was a J on its own (not accompanied with an 'M') underneath a large circular laurel device with the three separate words:-
INDIAN
STONE
WAREI have no clue what that's all about. I also saw some actual Native American wares marked with 'Indian Stoneware' as a backstamp. These were later 20th Century.
Anyone know, please shout.
