King George Plate - Antique Bone China Query
King George Plate - Antique Bone China Query:- Hi there, my name is Jackie, and I am the owner of a thrift store in Hamilton, ON. I have come across a bone china plate, with some intriguing markings, front and back. It has a dark blue rim with gold trimming, and a picture of a lovely peasant looking girl, with her dark brown hair tied back with an orange bandana, and a necklace of Ivy. In the background, there is long grass with a garden of daffodils. She is wearing a robe not quite as dark as the plate's boarder. On the back, it says either H03 or d03 in gold, that half of the letter is faded and I can't quite make it out. Other than this though, there are 3 pieces of tape with writing. The first piece says "This plate, Steamer Kingston (B's Gramma) Maude "Vicky" Riffer." I'm guessing this is who owned it at some point before me. The next piece says "used by King George before he was king, when he and his bride were on the ship." And the third piece says "Duke and Duchess of york - 1908?" I've included some pictures - can you help me out at all? If it was used by King George is there a way to prove that? I'm quite curious. Thank you,
Jackie

Hi Jackie
What a fabulous find, thanks for sharing the story.
There seems to be a fantastic provenance to these items, which, if proved to be true, could make them very valuable indeed.
You need expert help. I would say offline rather than online and you need a specialist antiquarian, possible associated with a famous specialist auction house to have a look at these items.
Good luck with it and please report back asap.
