limoges pottery mark query - crown that looks like a series of large loops

limoges pottery mark query - crown that looks like a series of large loops:- Found a piece of what i think is limoges today. It is a trinket box, with two painted birds kissing on the top of the box. Flowers painted on the body and small flower painting on the inside bottom of the trinket box.

The mark sort of looks like a crown, only the crown looks like large loops that resemble the letter L. Has the word Limoges under it.

the inking is pale blue in color. I have been looking online, saw something similar but it had the word France underneath. Mine does not.

Good News / Bad News
by: Blake

Dear Sophia, The good news about your Limoges Box is that after searching several sites that specialize in reporting fake Limoges I can confidently state your box is genuine Limoges. The bad news is that after searching my books and several sites the most I can tell you about the mark on your box is that it is genuine but no one seems to know exactly what company used the mark. The crown most closely resembles the crown in the mark for Royal China Limoges but there is doubt about whether that mark is a factory Limoges mark or the mark of an American company that imported Limoges.
Three or four books on Limoges boxes have been published in the last few years and I have seen them quite often on the shelves of local book stores such as Borders or Barnes & Noble. If you have a major book seller near you I would go see if they have one of the books as it may have more definite information. Another idea would be to go to amazon.com and search for Limoges Boxes under books then write down the titles of the newest books. Take them to your local public library and they can arrange to borrow them from another library for you if they don't have them.

Good luck and I hope this has been of some help.

Yours, Blake
