Minton Date Query
Minton Date Query:- I have a Minton plate belonging to my wife who wants to find out it's date and if possible it's pattern name.
I have tried dating it from the Minton marks, but it seems to date from 1900 to 1950.
I believe accurate records from Minton are a little hard to get hold of so hope you can help me.
Kind regards
Tony Williams

The forum Help Elf says:-
I reckon this mark dates your plate to between 1891 and 1902. According to Goddens, the word "England" was first put the standard globe mark in 1891. This was changed to "made in England" in 1902. In 1912 a newer version of the standard globe mark was issued. This newer version also said "made in England" and continued until 1950.
As for the pattern, please read the advice on this page:-
The best way to identify your china patternThis is a lovely plate, and Minton is one of the most highly regarded bone china porcelain makers of them all.
I am not qualified to get into the question of values, but I saw a similar looking Minton famille-rose palette plate at auction and the estimate was $100 - $200 USD, but it only sold for $35 because, I think the description was a bit lacking. A good description written by an expert appraiser can sometimes make a lot of difference to the price attained at auction.
