Mrs. Susanne Meserve
I have inherited many pieces of the Algonquin pattern from my mother who died 20 years ago. I have no idea how they came to her. She never used it as I grew up. The pieces sat in a cupboard. (I actually thought they were pretty ugly when I was young)
In the early 70s we had a pretty severe earthquake in Southern California, and many of the pieces were broken. I can remember visiting my parents and seeing my mother trying to glue some of the priceless pieces back together.
I use the dinnerware and serving pieces now on special occasions and absolutely love them. They are especially festive during the holidays. I wish I knew more about them - where they came from, the date they were made, why the name Algonquin (I just a few minutes ago found out the pattern name from an on-line collector). I use to think the pattern was Asian!
