Mystery Plate Marking - French Meissen imitation?:- I purchased this piece from the estate of an avid china collector. While I picked it up as an item for my home, I have become obsessed with trying to identify its mark. I hope the picture is clear enough if not, it is marked in blue with two crossed lines above a print "F" and is marked France.
As I say, I recently purchased this item from an estate sale. The woman was an avid china collector. I bought the piece for my home but now have become obsessed with trying to discover the provenance of the mark. I hope the picture of the mark is clear enough. If not it appears to be an "x" with an F underneath and is marked France.
Thanks for any help!
Jett

Mystery Plate Marking - French Meissen imitation?
Hi Jett
Many thanks for submitting. I don't know the answer to this one, but what I can tell you is this mark is not shown on my Millers Guide or Kovels. Of course there are many many marks with crossed lines and letters in the same position at the bottom of the cross, but none shown with an F.
Most quality makers over the UK, Europe and the USA have impersonated the Meissen crossed swords pottery mark, especially the older ones, so there is no clue there really.
Hopefully, knowledgeable contributors can help. If so, I would urge them please go ahead and write in the comments section below.
