Hello again Karen
Hope you are keeping well. Thanks for your interesting query, I really appreciate the time and trouble you take to contact the site and upload photos.
I can't tell you the name of this piece
(editor's note: see comments below), but a quick check on ebay using the tips shown on my
China Replacement page will tell you that even though 'Nao' is the slightly less expensive range of LLadro, the prices for a Nao figurine in buy-it-now auctions range from £25 to £200 GBS at the time of writing.
On the American ebay the lowest buy-it-now price for a Nao lady figurine was $70 USD, the highest was around $500 USD when I checked.
"DAISA" is the company which has been created to keep the intellectual rights of both Lladro and Nao. "DAISA" therefore appears on both Lladro and NAO.
Nao is modeled by a team of sculptors in Xirivella, Valencia, Spain in workshops called 'The City of Porcelain'.
I heard that the sculpting team there are essentially the trainee sculptors who go on to progress to sculpt the Lladro pieces, but I don't know the truth if that, it was just hearsay in the UK sculpting world.
You should definitely consider postponing that trip to the charity shop! If I were you I would put her for sale on ebay.
For visitors with less well known items than Nao wanting an insurance valuation or who are thinking of maybe selling their wares sometime in the future, I recommend getting a certified appraisal – it particularly helps with rare items on ebay where people are not able to inspect the wares.
On my 'fast track to an expert' page you can get in touch with a professional appraiser who will let you know if your mark is identifiable by experts, without you having to pay any money upfront:
www.figurines-sculpture.com/antique-china-values.html It's a unique service online, and one I've designed especially to protect my site visitors from wasting their time and money online.
Remember also to enjoy all the other
free resources and
online guides on this site.
