Porcelain Mark Query - Capodimonte N with Horse or Unicorn:- I have a porcelain pedestal with the capo di monte blue N with crown over it and capo di monte underneath. There is also a horse reared up on back legs on right side of mark. Underneath and to the left of capo.. is word that looks like "paonu".

The piece is approximately 19 inches tall and about 14 inches across at widest point. The top of the pedestal is covered with large beautiful light pink roses with small blue flowers in between. The pedestal is brown and the bottom is open, hollow.

I am interested in dating/selling this piece.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Capodimonte Piece With Horse N Mark

It is not an antique. But if there are no chips a capodimonte piece can retail for $150.00 to $200.00.

There are a lot of capo. collectors out there. You should have no trouble selling it.

It most likely dates from the mid 60s early 70s.

I beg to differ although I am no expert, the experts at MyGranny'sAntiques state that the earliest marks made were of the same as on DragonFly's piece. I believe it dates earlier than we suspect. Let's hope an expert on "Capo" will see the pictures and comment so that the mystery can be solved.

I have a similar piece of capo, with the same backstamp. However, Dragonfly's item is hollow underneath, and I have never seen a capo that was hollow. It would seem to me that it's most likely modern.
