Porcelain Oil Lamp With Squiggly Signature Mark

Porcelain Oil Lamp With Squiggly Signature Mark:- Bought it in South America in the early 1960's. Don't know much about it, just thought it was different looking. I'd never seen a swan with breast. It is about 14" long and 5" wide. The markings are on the bottom. I couldn't find who they belonged to.

Hello again Bob

Thanks for sharing your photo and mark of the lamp. Interesting looking object. Again, looks to me as if it might have some value, although I don't have any idea about the mark, personally. The signature squiggles are pretty indecipherable and almost look to me like a foreign alphabet akin to Cyrillic (Russian). If it turned out to be Lomonosov it would no doubt be valuable. The 'swans' look very dragon-like and oriental looking. I was looking at the signature again and wondering if it could be oriental calligraphy that happens to look a bit western? Quite a mystery object.

We had quite a success with your last pottery mark query with the porcelain experts, so not sure if you want to go there again, or wait a while to see if anyone else can shed some light on this thread here first. Let me know.

Glad your email is working again.

Best regards,
