Nice, nice, nice.

That's no 'junk' you know.

I am no expert on Irish wares, particularly not on Beleek marks, but it looks to my untrained eye as if you might well have a very valuable piece of Irish Beleek on your hands.

It is typical of their animalier work of the mid to late 1800's. Sometimes the pieces have a Mother of Pearl Lustre - but yours doesn't appear to have this from the photo.

The few I have seen carry either the first black mark or the second black mark, or are not marked at all. I have never seen one with just a B, but I haven't seen that many and, as I say , I am no expert at all.

You ought to be careful with this object as I have seen these things with estimates of many hundreds of dollars and, depending on rarity, sometimes thousands.

Maybe your father-in-knew exactly what he had and wanted you to have a nice surprise one day!

White Figural Anima l(3 hungry birds)
by: Eileen

I found this exact figurine/vase at an estate sale. Mine is white bisque, with a flat finish. It is marked with a British Registry Mark. The mark is diamond shaped with an Rd in the center(Registered Design). From my research, it dates from 1842-1883. There is a coding system for the numbers and letters on the mark, but I am having difficulty reading some of the letters/numbers which would tell me the exact year, month, and day this figurine was registered.
I haven't been able to find one like it on the net, so if anyone has any information about the vase itself or the value, I'd surely appreciate it.
