Pottery Mark Query - Crown above W:- Hello, Recently I had the joyful arrival of my first daughter and as a small present my mother in law bought her a set of pottery. I am no expert in these matters as my only knowledge comes from watching bargain hunt but I am really intrigued to know if there is any story behind the pottery. If you would like further pictures.

Thank you

Wayne

Pottery Mark Query - Crown above W

Hi Wayne

Interesting submission - not had this one before.

Great way to learn watching Bargain Hunt (an antiques based fun BBC program on UK TV for those from different countries than Wayne).

This mark is that of Krautzberger, Mayer and Purkeht, formerly of Wistritz, Bohemia, Austria, (subsequently Bystrice Czechoslovakia, then the Czech Republic). Your version of the mark with Czechoslovakia written on is from 1918 - 1945.

This was a short lived company having been founded only in 1911. All this information I got from excellent website on Bohemian wares www.collectorscircle.com

Be aware that there is quite a following of collectors for Bohemian ware, so you might be onto a winner.
