Pottery Mark Query-- " J B 77 "?
Pottery Mark Query-- " J B 77 "?:- Well we moved into our home a few years ago and it was here. It has since sat on the shelve until now when i have finally found the time to start trying to find out where it came from. I really have no clue I have never really owned any pottery and I have been trying to find something on this or something that looked like this with no luck.
I really have not even found a signature or initials that looks like this. So I have actually started thinking maybe this was someone's hobby and I got one of there makes It would be neat to find out where it came from.
I hope maybe someone out there either knows who made it our was lucky enough to get one from someone if it is a project someone did in there spare time. I have never used it and truthfully until the other day I did not even know it was a soup tureen( I guess that is right).
So now that i have rambled on I would like to thank anyone in advance that might be able to fill me in on this mystery. I also would like to say this is a pretty neat website u have here and I have gotten pretty interested in pottery just from reading trying to find out about this piece.
Once again for any help that can be given on this.

I think you are absolutely right in saying that this is likely from an amateur's studio. It was made by somebody with the initials JB in 1977 (or was it 1877?!).
Look for signs of ageing and post again in the comments section. Is there any crackling in the glaze, how dirty/discoloured is the base, are there any chips or other types of small damage?
For me, the style of it fits better with 1877 than 1977! And so does the skill level - this is a highly skilled item (with a very amateur looking signature pottery mark)
