unidentified teapot Pottery Mark Query - Made in Strand England?
Pottery Mark Query - Made in Strand England?:- I bought this floral patterned teapot in a local charity shop in South London on Monday. There is no mark on the underside, but etched into it are the words Made In (top line) Strand (middle line) England (bottom). A rather blurred blue/grey stamp is also on the underside which I believe reads Burslem Made in England. I guess Strand is a brand name, but I can find no potteries in Burslem using that name. The number painted on the bottom in a gold lustre seems to read 02390 with a slash or a 1 beneath.
Does anyone recognise the teapot or know who the maker is? Still trying to work out how to add a full photo of the teapot.
Many thanks.

Hi P.
I have been trying to look up this Strand pottery mark on your teapot and I found one reference on an old ebay page still indexed by Google, but not kept by ebay which said:-
SUDLOW'S STRAND ENGLAND RETRO LOOK TEAPOT BURSLEM
This led me to find out more about Sudlow Pottery as Strand may have been one of their patterns or shapes. There are no other references to Strand Pottery or teapots anywhere else online or in my reference books.
Sudlow (Robert Sudlow & Sons, Adelaide Pottery, Adelaide Street, Burslem ) were a specialist teapot maker founded in 1886 and continuing to 1965. They were formerly Gibson, Sudlow & Co. located at Bourne's Bank, Burslem established around 1874. Then in 1884 it was Sudlow and Son.
Not total proof that Sudlow made your Strand teapot, but it seems to be a good theory right now.
