Pottery mark query - Mohn Handgemalt A Riebl:- Went to a local auction yesterday and in order to buy a couple of pieces of pottery ended up with several boxes and waifs and strays items. One of them is a beautiful plate with what I believe to be a hand-painted poppy decoration.
The mark reads "Mohn Handgemalt A Riebl".
I have researched the web and it seems that Handgemalt is a generic German description for handpainted (?) but I haven;t been able to find ut anything more about the origins of the plate.
Can you help?

The forum Help Elf says:-
The words translate as "Poppy" hand painted by A. Riebl. The painting is a very nice tight and competent style.
A. Riebl is not known by me or any of the moderator team. The only reference on the whole world wide web to an A. Riebl is to an author of a treatise called "The Philosophical Criticism". That gives a clue to the obscurity of the name, so it can safely be said this person was an amateur, likely to be working around the late 1800's or early 20th Century when there was a massive craze for painting ceramics.
