Pottery Mark Query - Old Oriental vase been in the family for over 100 years
Pottery Mark Query - Old Oriental vase been in the family for over 100 years:- I have an old Chinese (or perhaps Japanese) pottery vase that has been in my family for at least 90 years. I know this as I've seen pictures of it in my Great Grandfather's house in the 1910s.
He was a well known collector of art and antiques so I imagine whatever it is, it's the genuine article.
Rather than having some kind of stamp on it, it has oriental text on the underside of the base, which I have attached as part of the picture.
I'm keen to know where this vase has come from, so any help translating this would be great.
Regards
Stuart

Hi Stuart
Nice pics - very clear, thanks. Interesting submission and interesting provenance, let's hope someone reading this can help.
Myself, I no very little about Oriental wares, apart from when I organise
valuation appraisals for visitors, they seem to generally fetch good prices at auction - especially genuine antique ones.
If you get no replies from this thread, think about getting this nice item checked out.
Best regards,
