Pottery Mark Query - Parian Pitcher with Diamond Kite Device with WB - Is this 1862 London Exhibition?
Pottery Mark Query - Parian Pitcher with Diamond Kite Device with WB - Is this 1862 London Exhibition?:- I received this small 7 1/2" high x 4" wide paisan (white-on-white) pitcher as a gift purchased in London and thought to be from the 1862 London Exhibition, chiefly due to the "scenes" depicting "ART", "SCIENCE", "MUSIC", and "COMMERCE" on the pitcher's face. Maybe, maybe not ???
The only "word" on the bottom/base markings is "INTERNATIONAL" within a circular banner.
ALL base markings are molded in . . . not printed, or stamped.
My SKETCH image below is the best summary of the numerous markings on the bottom base.
The other unique detail on this pitcher is the broken handle that has been repaired using a drilled & wired together technique that is very artfully executed.
I realize that it was "broken", but I sure like the repair method which appears to be an artform.
I am looking for the manufacturer/history/information/value of this pitcher.
Any information you might share is much appreciated.
Thank You in advance . . .
Lee
