POTTERY MARKS - ALTHEA PATTERN ON FLOW BLUE or BLUE & WHITE CHINAWARE QUERY:-
Bought from a woman who has had this bowl in her family for at least 90 years. I want to give it to my sister for her birthday. I am having a hard time identifying the mark and finding other pieces in the pattern.
Can you help?

Hello
We were able to find the companies that made this Pattern (ALTHEA refers to a name derived from the Greek and means Wholesome or Healer). It turns out that only three (3) companies produced this Pattern during the 19thC, namely:
„h PODMORE, WALKER & Co
„h SAMUEL ALCOCK & Co., and
„h WOOD & BROWNFIELD
In this case, based on the style and other details of the mark, we are practically certain that your particular Flow Blue "Althea" Plate was made by Samuel Alcock & Co, located in Burslem, Staffordshire, UK, and dates ca 1830 - 1859.
