Pottery Signature Mark on Ornate Double handled Vase:- I recently purchased a 17" tall, hand painted antique vase, in Minnesota, USA. There is something written on the rough part of the ceramic base, which to my imagination looks like like it may end in Limoges. There is also a black 53 in the upper part of the base, inside the bottom. This vase is in wonderful condition, and beautifully painted.
Anyone with any info. on these handwritten marks?

Lovely, lovely item - looks to me like it might be real quality.
I have these Amphora ware items going through my
expert liaison service regularly and they are normally very collectible and can fetch high prices.
Due to the collectibility of these Bohemian style pieces (although they made this style of pieces in Sevres France too), this is worth getting checked out.
=================
Amphora ware in this context refers to a form of art pottery also called Teplitz because it was emanating from the Turn-Teplitz region of Austria. This is a region of was then called Bohemia - a name which has gone out of use today, but which blossomed in the late 19th century and was influential in the important European movement we now call Art Nouveau, and was very creative and modern in it's thinking at the time.
The characteristics of the ware is that is flows and is very ornate and imaginative in it's flowing shapes and decoration.
The company which led the way was Reissner, Stellmacher & Kessel (R St K) awarded best in show at a contemporary US ceramic show. Their business split in 1905 but they continued individually.
Decorating artist Paul Dachsel (signed PD) is sought after and was able to be successful enough to found his own company in 1905 called PD Turn-Teplitz. He left R. St. K. in 1905 to start is own company.
So look out for these wares and if you have any of them, you will do well as they are collectible.
