Query About My Different Cursive 'D' Pottery Mark
Query About My Different Cursive 'D' Pottery Mark:- Could you tell me the maker and approximate date of my china? The only marks on the bottom are a simple crown and underneath is a capital "D"; you have the exact mark on your web page of "Pottery Marks". I will attach a photo of my china.
Thank you so much for your help!
Sincerely,
Nancy

Hi again! I was able to get a better photo of the mark on my china that I just inquired you about. Upon further review, it varies slightly from the mark on your "Pottery Marks" page where my crown has 3 lines and yours has two. My "D" is a little more curly. Hope this helps. Thank you so much again!! Nancy

Hi Nancy
Thanks for the photo. Yes this mark is different to the ones shown on the other
Cursive 'D' Pottery Marks Query.
I have not seen this exact one before and its not in my books exactly as shown. I can give you a further avenue to research, however.
The three pronged crown over a cursive 'D' has been associated with a maker called Helena Wolfsohn of Dresden, Germany. She ran a decorating studio from the year 1843 and worked mainly in the Meissen style. Its known also that her studio was taken over by Leopold Elb and W.E.Stephan when the 'D' mark similar to yours was used. The difference is only slight in that the fancy swirl at the top on the left is not quite so circular & exaggerated. The rest is very close.
Hope this helps.
