Royal Doulton Pitcher and Bowl
Royal Doulton Pitcher and Bowl:- It's a Royal Doulton Pitcher and bowl. I purchased it about 40 years ago in Ingomar Montana. I'm attaching a picture of the set and of the bottom. the pottery marks include the lion with Royal Doulton below and made in England. Pottery Mark-R followed by small a, underlined, then N followed by o, underlined, followed by 659,319 Below that is an oblong circle with what looks like a large 2 in it and below that is the number 29. What can anyone tell me about this set?
Thank you.

Hi Terry
Many thanks for the great clear photos.
Looks like you have a nice hand painted Doulton Majolica wash set. Majoloca is richly colored and decorated earthenware often with a tin-glaze with its origins in Italy. The mark dates from 1922 onwards, with your particular variation mainly from 1922 - 27. A similar mark incorporating a crown was used from 1902 onwards.
The abbreviation 'R N' (for Registered Number) followed by numerals means a date subsequent to 1883.
The dots and 2 symbol are further identification of artist and / or date. I do not have these specified in my books.
A more knowledgeable person may pitch up to give further information (it's happened before many times).
OR go to http://www.antique-marks.com/doulton-artists-marks.html and have a good sniff around for the artist mark.
Hope this helps.
Best regards,
