Salisbury Bone China - Daffodils & harebells

My Grandmother's sister brought a tea/coffee set to her from Glasgow in 1966. There was a cake serving plate, a cream pitcher, a sugar bowl, a pot (looked too tall for a tea pot), 6 cake plates, 6 cups, 6 saucers.

When my Grandmother died, it passed down to my mother. When my Mother died, I asked for it. When it got to me the pot and the cream pitcher were gone...don't know if one of my sisters-in-law decided to keep them or if they had broken on the way to be packed and shipped.

I do have the sugar bowl, the serving plate, 6 cups, 6 saucers, and 6 cake plates. I would like to know the proper name of the pattern and the approximate date it was made...value if possible.

daffodil pattern - Salisbury Bone China is Clare
by: Miriam

I have a teacup and saucer with nearly an identical pattern. In fact, the painting of the daffodils and harebells ARE identical; the cup just has more gold paint around the base.

It is Clare Bone China made in England, and the batter is #1756. I have, until now, been unable to find any matching china online.

Hi Miriam

Thank you so much for solving this long-standing mystery. So, I assume you are saying that instead of having the pottery mark "Salisbury", you set with the same design has the brand "Clare" stamped on the bottom?.

The likelihood therefore is that Salisbury was a brand of Clare China Co. Ltd, based at the Ruby Works, Longton, Staffordshire.

Regards
