Studio pottery goblets with impressed mark W or M inside a square:- I recently bought a matched pair of studio goblets from our local charity shop. I collect Cornish pottery usually and that is what I thought these must be. However I have not been able to identify the potter despite the clear stamps.

Please help!!!

Not Warren MacKenzie
by: Thrift Sift

Hello out there,

While the glaze looks similar to something he might use, the chop mark does not. His "M" has the second peak crossed like a capital "A", and the mark can be found inside an oval, not a box. He used an entirely different mark when he he worked with his wife before she passed in '62. For the past 30 years or so he hasn't used any chop mark, in attempts to keep resale prices from flying up so high. I have a piece with the earlier mark on my esty site Thrift Sift, if you want to see what the earlier mark looks like.

-M.

Looks like pieces by Warren Mackenzie and also the mark is similiar. You might want to check out his work and see if you can find your goblets using his name. He is out of Stillwater, Minnesota.

I was wondering if you ever identified your piece? I too have a similar piece of pottery with an almost identical mark. Please let me know if you have since found the name of the manufacturer or artist.
