Unknown Pottery Mark - Identified as Delphine

Unknown Pottery Mark - Identified as Delphine:- I have acquired a saucer that has the following on the bottom: DE PHINE, BONE CHINA, MADE IN ENGLAND, all under what looks like a crown. The other side has a floral pattern. Does any of this ring a bell for you? i can't find anything on the internet even close, so I am assuming this is probably a fake mark.
Thanks.
Paul

Hi Paul, I'll bet my bottom dollar this is one of my favourite makers Hudson & Midddleton of Staffordshire, England. One of their brands was 'Delphine'. The 'L' in the middle of the word didn't print properly or has faded.
There is lots of info on this site about them, just go to the China Makers Guide and follow the links, or use the search box (on the top right of every page).
Look out for the article written by a lady, Helen Chapman (nee), who is a descendent of both the Hudsons, the Middletons and also the closely associated and inter-related firm Chapmans. All had various units producing fine bone china in and around the famous streets of Longton.
Every time I am in Longton, I go past the listed pot bank building of Hudson & Middleton, still going strong and one of the only remaining bone china makers to have survived the turmoil amongst the wreckage of what one was a proud industry. I am getting some of my work reproduced in a unit just around the corner. My other unit is in Hanley, a rival Stoke town.

p.s. I need to let you and others know how best to research both online and offline.
