unmarked figurines that resemble Dresden lace:- I have 2 dresden lace type figurines that was acquired by brother who was hired to clean out and dispose of the property by the family of the deceased lady. I understand that she spent a lot of time in and around Europe. There is no markings that I can find. They both seem to have the Dresden appearance in the decoration at the bottom and the dresses. I have tried to find out about them over the years without any luck. Both the ladies hands had been broke. I have kept the pieces. Trying to find out if they are worth being repaired. I keep them in a box because the lace around the dresses are fragile. From what I have read about the Dresden Lace in the past was the some of the pieces were not marked either by the Dresden mark or the artist. Could tell me about them.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Joy

unmarked figurines that resemble Dresden lace

Hi Joy

Many thanks for submitting your photos but for some reason, your photos are very small and I am unable to see the all important tell-tale details.

With these Dresden style figural groups the older ones are the ones with the value and the older ones without exception, show exquisite sculptural detail not possible to create in later models (unless original moulds were used). Companies like Sandizell (founded after the War in 1951) made reproductions of these lace figurines right up the present day, so your could be modern.

However modern ones would tend to be marked, so this just adds to the mystery as from what I can see of them (which isn't much) they have a modern look to the sculpt, make and finish.

As I say, I can't tell, due to the lack of detailed photos of faces, hands, folds, legs, arms, etc etc, but from a distance, these pieces don't have the look of the older figural groups.

I am not an expert, but I have seen many examples sent to experts through my my expert vintage and antique china values service.

Knowledgeable contributors please try to help with this one further (check out the comments section below for replies).
