Unmarked Fine Bone China Porcelain Coffee Cup Possibly 19th Century - Antique China and Fine China Collectibles Query

Unmarked Fine Bone China Porcelain Coffee Cup Possibly 19th Century - Antique China and Fine China Collectibles Query: An unknown piece. I bought this piece at an estate auction. I absolutely love it. It passes the light test for Bone China, it is very light, and the white middles of the flowers on the cup are raised. And know just as I look at it the flowers on the plate are a different colour than on the cup. I did notice the splashes of colour were different, but not the flowers.

As I was doing the light test, I seen the number 385 and that's it, hard to see the number otherwise. Would really just like a story to go along with darling little tea cup!

Thank you.

Hi again Ziidromom

Thanks for another interesting submission. Many antique porcelain / bone china coffee cups from the 19th Century were unmarked. The habit of marking quality wares had not yet become widespread.

Remember in the last query I suggested you follow the instructions on my China Replacement page in order to price compare your items? Well, this particular item is a good example of how you must put in the right search term into the ebay search box in order to get significant results.

In this particular case, your search term should be "unmarked antique cup" and then select the "Pottery & Glass" section from the drop-down menu. You should put a tick in the "search title and description" box.

When I did this I found a similar style of unmarked hand-painted coffee cup (probably early to mid 19th Century) selling for £49.00 buy-it-now price.

Regards
