vale mark query









about to buy a teapot marked royal vale (violets).
we have a teaset marked 4212(colclough).
they look the same but are they the same?

Sorry to take a while to answer - been hectic.

Thanks for your query.

Royal Vale was a mark Colclough used. So the pattern is most likely the same. I don't know why they sometimes chose to use the Colclough stamp and sometimes Royal Vale. Maybe to do with retailer issues (exclusivity on a brand in a town for example)
