Woods Ivory Ware Query
Woods Ivory Ware Query:- I have a dinner set which I inherited from my grandmother. She told me that she received it as a gift from my grandfather with the birth of my eldest uncle who is now currently 75 years old. My guess is that my grandfather bought about in 1934 in the then Orange Freestate province, South Africa.
The edges have a golden rim and is riffled with a pink, blue and yellow flowers border. In the centre there is aslo a bunch of the same flowers with the difference of a white flower added to the boquet. The dinner plates have a number on it - 3 51. Further markings include the following: "Woods Ivory Ware" with the English Crown and the word "England".
My questions are - Where does it originate from - place, time, era, etc. and is it still available - I miss some pieces.
Regards
Erika

Hi Erika
Great story, thanks!
There are several other visitor submissons to this site on Woods Ivory ware. Put the term 'Woods Ivory Ware' into the search box at the top of the homepage, and have a look through what comes up to see if any of it helps.
Then go to my
China Replacement page and follow instructions on how to get a feel for what's out there by using live ebay auctions and Replacements.com etc.
For a fast track answer with a professional appraiser, you could try:
www.figurines-sculpture.com/id-pottery-mark.html You don't need to pay any money upfront to use this service. It's unique online and I've designed it to protect my site visitors from wasting their time and money online.
If none of these measures do the trick, submit here again, saying what info you can't get hold of, and I'll put in a specific entry on that.
Hope this helps.
