Hi Arnold
Not familiar with this Japan mark myself. In all cases submitters wanting to benefit from useful comments on this public forum must show a picture of their wares as well as their mark. However, my current system only allows the upload of one image with eash submission.
It is a relatively easy thing to do to merge a couple of pictures into one and then upload this combined photo image with your entry. However, for those who don't know how to do this I have organized a '
photo-merge service here'.
Just flicking through the pages of Gotherborg.com, the Japanese makers love the wreath emblem. There is quite a variety. I didn't see your mark.
However, I noticed the faded emblem in the center of your wreath mark bore a resemblance to the device used by Moriyama Pottery located in MoriMachi in Shizuoka prefecture. Moriyama Pottery was established in 1911 by Hidekichi Nakamura who was taught pottery making by Seison Suzuki. One of the two primary stamps was a crown with a wreath of leaves similar to the wreath found on the Noritake stamp. This stamp is often marked "Moriyama Hand Paint Japan."
Not being an expert, I have no idea whether or not your mark is associated with the Moriyama Pottery, it is just an observation on the similarity.
Recently, I have had a flurry of submissions about oriental marks which are are a specialty all of their own. I sent the marks to a specialist appraiser and they have been able to identify the makers straight away and value the items. However, they do charge for this online service as it takes up quite a few resources to be in a position to offer it (£6.95 GBP UK).
