Castel Limoges
by: Blake

Dear Betty, According to what information I could find on-line and in Limoges Porcelain 3rd Edition by Mary Frank Gaston, the wreathed J on an open book mark was used by the Castel Company of Limoges from the 1980s-90s. The company started in 1944 making small items & boxes. It is listed as no longer producing porcelain though its remaining stock is still being distributed through Haviland.

I hope this helps.

Yours, Blake

Thank You!

Limoges France blue marking with shield, wreath and letter J
by: Karen

We have an item with such a marking on the bottom along with green Limoges, underlined, and France. The photo with this original query looks like our marking except the green signature is under the blue marking, not above it. This item might be a toothpick holder. It has 3 legs, shaped like an egg, only open at the top (no lid) with 2 birds painted on it. The feet and top edging have gold. Can anybody please tell me more about this item and/or the marking? Thank you.

limoges with wreathed J
by: elyse

Hello- did anyone find our more about the origin?
"wreathed J on an open book mark was used by the Castel Company of Limoges from the 1980s-90s."
The Lomgoes france is in Green. I have a demitasse cup and saucer set rimmed in gold with birds and flowers. There are 4 different birds. I was told the birds were hand painted transfers but I dont know how to tell. I would like to sell this set but cant find out anything on it.

Any help appreciated

Thanks

I too have a egg shaped small container. It has flowers on it and footed with three pretty legs. My stamp is identical to the one shown. Is there a value to this item that I can add in my estate inventory book? It's quite a sweet container..

As far as hand painted goes, Castel did not hand paint anything, all transfer ware.
